Offerings–
January 2, 2008Offerings–
All the seasons came to me,
Sat at my heels, innocently,
Looked into my experienced eyes,
Hoping for a word of praise.
Winter brought some memories,
Covered tenderly with snow,
Spring, its best daisies,
Twirled them for the show,
Summer brought a golden sky,
And for night a warm sea-breeze.
Autumn was late again,
Came limping and sat in front of me,
Placed a dead leaf at my feet,
From an old oak tree,
And others could not help but smile,
At autumn’s poverty.
From that frail, dried leaf I heard,
Story of a thousand trees,
A chronicle of life and death,
Secrets of the birds and bees,
And that leaf made me realize,
All seasons had made me happy
But autumn had made me wise.
This is something i just wrote – i mean just now, so it is currently a WIP, and the title, I’m not too sure about the title. Lets say its just a working title.
Ohh…and by the way, have a happier new year.
Love this poem. The last few lines are great! Autumn is my favorite season! (just thought i would throw that in there)
